Black Canyon of the Gunnison… Part 3 of 4 in our Telluride weekend road trip.

Carie and I continued north on our route back to Denver, stopping at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP.

The beautiful weather continued, so we had clear skies and plenty of sunshine for our visit. We visited the southern side of the canyon, where there’s a visitors center and about a dozen different overlooks. We stopped at almost every lookout point, just lots of spectacular drops and interesting rock formations. You can get a back country permit to hike the bottom of the canyon along the river, though I don’t imagine you’d run into many down there.
