Carie and I hiked the tallest 14er in Colorado, Mount Elbert, with a couple friends.
It sounds pretty ambitious, but it’s actually one of the easier, beginner 14er hikes. Which is why we went for it, as this is only our second 14er of the season, and likely our last for the season.
We were a little worried it’d be too snowy, as a lot of peaks we passed the day before already had quite a bit, but it ended up being a perfect afternoon. Clear, sunny, calm, no snow.

Back at the trail head, we drove to Leadville for a burger (a wonderful post-hike tradition!)

Looks like someone was generous with the “curry powder” on the slopes…..love those yellows, blues, and mountain majesties………soon you can add some frosting of snow to the scenery 🙂
